A Taste of NYFW & Ruffles

Hi everybody!

If you have been following me (or stalking me – haha just kidding) on my social media platforms, you would know that I attended New York Fashion Week last week with one of my best friends from college. I went to the Couture Fashion Show, focused on modeling ladies draped in long and elegant gowns (note: I would totally snag one of these if I had an upcoming occasion to show it off!). Although this wasn't my first NYFW show, it was my first appearance as a fashion blogger. I also attended the Style Collective brunch, where I had the opportunity to meet so many inspirational people that are part of the blogging industry. I had a great time networking and sharing ideas with like-minded people, definitely recommend going if you are in the blogging world! Overall, NYFW week was a memorable experience and I cannot wait until September! This event was a huge stepping stone for me personally, and I hope to to attend more events in the future – YAY!

Sorry for the tangent, but let’s talk fashion! NYFW is filled with ladies dressed in unique, trendy and stylish outfits, so I wanted to incorporate all three factors into my look. A recent popular trend has focused on sleeves and ruffles, so naturally when I came across this black sweater with ruffles on the sleeves, I knew when I where I was going to break it out! The sweater is split sleeve on the forearm with ruffles around the hem allowing one to flaunt their arms. This is a great piece for the winter wardrobe, because it’s versatile - you can wear it with many different combinations: jeans, leggings, shorts or a skirt. Since the runway is more bold and chic, I decided to pair it up with a pleated, striped, black and white skirt. I completed this outfit with shiny, ankle high, black boots for a sleek and edgy finish. My standard pop of color was added for the final touches - bright pink lips, pink nails and blue clutch.

I hope you all enjoy my NYFW blurb and my attire! As always, I would love to hear your thoughts and welcome any variation on this look. Hope you all enjoy your week! :)

Disclaimer: I had a minor #fashionblogger mishap - if you see any feathers on my outfit, they are from my down jacket. I didn't realize that they were clinging to my outfit when taking these pictures, and a redo was out of the realm of possibilities. Sorry - hopefully they aren't too distracting!
