Diwali - Festival of Lights
Hi Guys,
I want to wish you all a very Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year. I hope you all are spending the holidays dressed in beautiful Indian attire, visiting family and eating lots of unhealthy but mouthwatering and delicious Diwali goodies.
Today I want to share with you all a contemporary Indian outfit designed by Harleen Kaur, a talented fashion designer that incorporates modern Western trends fused with traditional Indian attire. These Indo-Western pieces are becoming increasingly popular within our society as they perfectly blend two different styles together and bring out the best features of each culture.
From this collection of Harleen's, I wore a beautiful, sleek and elegant black and gold outfit. The gold cropped top is simple with a shiny finishing. The black skirt is covered in small metallic polka dots and is airy, flowy and lightweight with a touch of modern flair. These two pieces are very versatile. You are able to mix and match the top and bottom with other garments such as a different cropped top, pleated skirt or trousers. My favorite aspect of this outfit is how effortlessly one is able to exude grace and poise - you certainly feel elegant in this combination! I complemented the top and skirt with traditional Indian jewelry to further the elegance and beauty of the outfit. I wore a deep gold necklace, earrings, and red and gold churiyas (bangles) for additional pops of color. Final touches included my red Mac lipstick in Ruby Woo and cultural tika on my forehead.
Many of the pieces in Harleen Kaur’s collection have a mix of Indian aesthetics and modern sophistication, making these outfits very classy, stylish and versatile. Her entire collection is even more stunning in person, and I was lucky to get a sneak-peek of some of her upcoming work. If you are interested in the exact pieces I wore in this outfit, please check out the links below.
I hope you all enjoyed my Diwali-inspired post! Like always, please let me know what you think. Thank you loves!
PS: All opinions of Harleen's clothing are my own, and I was not influenced by her / her team for providing a biased review.
